I'm curious to see if Fallout 76 hurt Bethesda's reputation to where they start seeing commercial numbers dip in their next game. The rest were from bargain bin prices it has dropped to many times. Cyberpunk's majority sales came at launch.

Low quality products generally don't sell well. However, sales are indeed some measure of quality otherwise things wouldn't sell. They many not meet your standard of quality but millions upon millions upon millions of gamers have a different perception of quality than you do and those games meet that standard. The problem with what you're saying is that because these games lack in some areas, you're quietly suggesting that they lack in all areas and have no quality whatsoever, correct me if I'm wrong. It's now a functionally solid game but it was a terrible game at release that took over a year for console players to actually enjoy.

All the PC CDPR White Knights were going to buy it regardless of quality out of blind loyalty. All it indicates is who was able to market their game better or fool someone into brand loyalty like CDPR did with Cyberjank 2077.

Plus they pushed themselves forward by getting out of their comfort zone chasing a industry trend in battle royale with Warzone which, imo, is the best battle royale game on the market right now. You still don't really have a game you can call a Call of Duty killer so it just remains on top. Bethesda/R* got surpassed fast due to the sea of sandbox flavor of the month games. A franchise like Call of Duty keeps trucking along because nobody does it better yet. Both Bethesda/R* were at the top but their arrogance and refusal to innovative pushing forward has stagnated and made their games feel archaic. They had the luxury of being one of the few devs who could design games of their scale. Too many hens in the hen house and Bethesda doesn't separate from the pack anymore. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 though was a considerable drop in quality and their flaws now stick out like a sore thumb due to the sea of copycat sandbox games these days. I would argue they were on the decline after Morrowind but I'll give anyone Skyrim/Oblivion/F3 despite me having beef with them. The problem with that trend is Bethesda didn't stay on top of it now they've been surpassed fast. Skyrim is like Call of Duty 4 in that it created a trend.

On the flipside that output from FS is incredible - they’ve found a template and ran with it. Never thought we’d be here 11 years later in 2022 without a sequel to one of the biggest games of all time (commercially and critically).

That’s not including DLC, and yes DS 2020 is a full remake - enough to be a new game. Some praise was not universal, there was another title that came out that year
Remember when Skyrim came out in 2011? That game blew people away at the time, and rightfully earned a heap of Game of the Year awards.
